How to Properly Care for Your Jewelry

General Care

All jewelry, regardless of its value, is meant to be worn daily, not stored away. We understand that scratches, dents, and tarnishing may occur, and we encourage you to embrace these signs of a well-loved piece. However, there are ways to maintain the pristine condition of your jewelry.

It is strongly recommended to remove your jewelry before swimming, gardening, playing contact sports, cleaning, or lifting heavy objects. When in doubt about the potential damage, take off your jewelry to minimize the need for repairs.

While most of the jewelry we offer requires minimal care, here are our recommended best practices:

Cleaning 14K Gold (with or without stones)

Prepare a mixture of mild dish detergent and warm water in a bowl. Soak the jewelry for a few minutes, then gently scrub with a dedicated soft toothbrush. Rinse the item and dry thoroughly with a soft polishing cloth.

For extra shine and to remove tarnish, use a polishing cloth. In case of tarnishing, particularly in earrings or inside rings, bring your piece to a reputable jeweler for ultrasonic cleaning.

Cleaning 14k Gold-Plated

The gold plating will naturally wear off over time, but there are steps to prolong its longevity. Daily polishing with a soft jewelry cloth is recommended to remove accumulated oils and dirt. Spot clean with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth, and ensure the piece is completely dried after getting wet.

Sterling Silver

To prevent quick tarnishing, wear your silver jewelry regularly, as the oils in your skin help prevent tarnish. Use a jewelry polishing cloth for gentle cleaning if tarnishing occurs. Exercise caution and use a very soft baby toothbrush for cleaning, as silver is very soft and can easily scratch.

Stones

Clean semi-precious stones with soap, water, and a cloth, ensuring thorough drying.

Opals and Moonstones require special care due to their delicate nature and high water content. Avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures, physical activities, and contact with soap, water, and household cleaners. Handle them gently during removal and storage.

Pearls, although sensitive, thrive when worn regularly. However, they require proper care to last. Always put pearls on last and remove them first to minimize exposure to chemicals from cosmetics, hair spray, and perfume. Clean pearls using a soft cloth moistened with water, avoiding the use of any detergent.
